- This
was an online Zoom videoconference meeting. Mike sent out a meeting
link for this Zoom meeting. This is a board meeting in place of our regular meeting.
- We had no meeting or work day in July due to the 4th of July holiday.
- Attendees: Mike
Boulland, Ron
Horii, David Huntley, Maurice Bayani. David was calling in from Fresno.
- Ron
is working on the newsletter. He needs a President's message from Mike
and an article from Lee about the garden boxes. Katrina Semene will be
writing an article about the school programs.
- We will be able
to participate in Viva Calle SJ at Martial Cottle, according to Ronni
Johnson. We need to find out how much room we'll have so we know how
much we can bring.. We'll pass out the newsletters there, or a 1-page
summary flyer, like last year. David can come and help. He will print
out the newsletters.
- Mike wanted to know how many people are using our website. The stats are accessible through the website tools.
- As of last count, our Facebook page had 266 followers.
- Mike keeps getting calls about Google wanting to list FOSTP as an organization on Google Maps and listing Mike's phone number.
- On 9/6, from 4:30-7:30 pm, there will be a concert by Los Panaderos in front of the barn.
- Mike
talked to Marissa Dobkins, Natural Resources Coordinator for the parks,
He invited her to our October First Friday workday to talk about
invasive plants and what to pull out. We can have a recognition picnic.
- Mike
said we could get a park driver's license so we can drive a park van in
the park for events. It requires watching a movie and taking a quiz
online. Offering van tours would help with publicity and recruiting.
- Mike
talked about doing cleanup work in the upper part of the park. Ron said
the Pueblo Area is already taken care of by Steve Cassidy and his land
stewards.
- Treasurer's report by David: We have $11,185 in
the bank. $288 is left over from last year's grant. We got $855 from
this year's grant. We haven't got $440 from the grant yet. We need to
send a letter to Juan Estrada from the County Parks approving our
activities to get it. $8000 is from Art Boudreault, earmarked for the
New Almaden Ting Project. Mike is working with NAQCPA on it. $2000 is
unrestricted and can be used to pay for our 501c3 application fees. The
grant did not cover Zoom fees. That's a misunderstanding. we can move
money around from other categories to pay for it.
- We need a vice president. Maurice said he's willing to do it. We voted him in.
- David
and Mike have been working on the by-laws for our 501(c)(3)
application. They are based on boilerplate documents from Nolo.
They
also have the articles of incorporation and the IRS application form
1023. They are ready to review and turn in. We'll vote on it at our
next general meeting. We can put our by-laws online. We don't need put
the articles of incorporation online. We need to send them to the
California Secretary of State. They don't need to see our by-laws. Our
bank wants to see our articles on incorporation.
- David
asked the BeautifySJ grant people if our becoming a 501c3 would affect
our being able to get the grant. They said they give grants to 501c3
organizations, so it's no problem.
- Mike said that it costs $450 to use Quickbooks online. 501c3's can get a discount.
- Veronica Johnson, Volunteer Program Manager, approved our work plan.
- FOLAW folded. They will turn over $1101.91 to FOSTP.
- The D2 Village Fest is on 9/19. The park is in D10 now.
- Coastal Cleanup Day in also on 9/19 at multiple parks.
- Mike leads a private hike for Stan's group every year. He needs to schedule it with Stan and let the parks know.
- 9/12 is New Almaden Day.
- There will be a new volunteer at the Bernal Ranch House.
