Rancho
Santa Teresa Historic District
Interpretive
Development
Project
Status:
-
Interpretive
Plan completed that identifies historical significance of sites and structures,
& recommends interpretive uses, signage and programming elements
-
Interpretive
Planning & Design firm, Platypus Studio (contracted through County
competitive consultant selection process), is reviewing the interpretive
plan and researching historical information about the site. Platypus Studio
will draft preliminary design plans for outdoor interpretive signage at
the springs, along the trail and around the ranch buildings; for indoor
barn exhibits; and for the interior of the ranch house
-
HHC
funding of approx. $140,000 for interpretive development of the site
-
Platypus
Studio will provide cost estimates for each of the recommended interpretive
elements.
Current
Needs:
-
Identify
information sources for historic photos, artifacts and information about
the site that relate to its Ohlone occupation, the Bernal Rancho, &
the Bernal-Gulnac-Joice ranch operations and families.
-
Assist
with the location and identification of any significant artifacts or materials
that were removed from the District.
(What are they?
Where are they? Who do they belong to?...)
-
-Assist
with locating items from the consultant's "wish list".
We do not want to
start collecting any large artifacts or quantities of material until we
know that we want to use them. The priority is to locate anything we can
that fits into the scope of this project, so that we may know what is available
and how to get it we need it.
Please report
information and findings to:
