Buck Norred Ranch Paint-Over


On 9/21/01, Earth Core kids and members of the community came to the Buck Norred ranchsite to paint over the graffiti on the outside of the buildings. The Buck Norred Ranch is part of Santa Teresa Park. It is located behind Heaton Moor Drive at Brockenhurst Drive. The once-private ranch featured horse rentals and hosted group picnics. The county bought the ranch in the 1990's. Now, the ranch buildings are unoccupied and have been a target for taggers and vandals. Soon, a mounted park patrol will be stationed at the ranch, which should help prevent vandalism, but they will not occupy the buildings. The buildings will be fenced off. This small cottage is next to the ranch house. It was also covered with graffiti (7/10/01).

This is the cottage after painting. The volunteers did not try to re-paint the entire outside of the buildings. They were mainly trying to cover the graffiti (9/22/01).
